Blanco State Park
Find a swimming hole made by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) back in The Depression.
Located at 1010 Park Road 23, off U.S. Route 281 in Blanco. Open year round from dawn to dusk. Admission is $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. Advance day-use reservations recommended.
Blue Hole in Wimberley
Set along Cypress Creek, find century-old Cypress trees, a couple of trapeze-type rope swings and rock-clad swimming piers.
Reservations required for morning or afternoon sessions, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Located at 100 Blue Hole Lane. Open from 8 a.m. to dusk during the swimming season. Open weekends only in May and September and daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Adult admission(13 to 59) is $10, kids (4 to 12) $6, seniors (60+) $6 and free for kids 3 and under.
Colorado Bend State Park
Located in the Hill Country west of Austin, Colorado Bend State Park is along the Colorado River. Take a self-guided tour and see Gorman Falls, a 70-foot waterfall.
Located at 2236 Park Hill Dr. Day-use adult admission is $5 per person. Advance day-use reservations recommended.
Jacob’s Well Nature Area
Thought to be one of the longest underwater caves in Texas and a popular swimming hole.
Located at 1699 Mt. Sharp Rd. Day-use adult admission(12+) is $9 and kids 5 to 12 are $5. Advance swimming reservations required.
Krause Springs in Spicewood
The 115-acre property has been in the Krause Family for over 50 years. With 32 springs on the property, there’s enough water for a man-made pool and a natural swimming hole.
Located at 424 County Road 404, near Spicewood, Texas. Open from mid-February until December 1. Open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Adult admission (12+) is $8, kids (4 to 12) is $5 and kids 3 and under are free. Cash Only. Arrive early for weekend admission.
Lake Bastrop LCRA Parks
The 900-acre lake offers lots of boating opportunities along with designated swimming areas.
Lake Bastrop North Shore Park is located at 603 FM 1441. Lake Bastrop South Shore Park is located at 375 South Shore Road. Adult day-use (12+) is $5. Open from dawn to dusk daily.
McKinney Falls State Park
With limestone outcroppings and water from Onion Creek, McKinney is a popular swimming hole, close to Austin.
Located at 5808 McKinney Falls Parkway. Adult admission (12+) is $6 and free for kids 12 and under. Advance day-use reservations recommended.
Pedernales Falls State Park
Splash in the Pedernales River in the Hill Country.
Located at 2585 Park Road 6026, Johnson City, TX 78636. Day-use adult admission is $6. Advance day-use reservations recommended.
Schlitterbahn Water Park in New Braunfels
The Original Section of Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels uses the Comal River water in a series of chutes and pools.
Located at 400 N. Liberty Ave. Schlitterbahn is open weekends only from mid-April to mid-May and from late August until mid-September. Open daily during the summer with varied hours. Admission varies and coolers with snacks are allowed. Advance reservations required for 2020.
